Those of us that drew breath on this day, pause to reflect on those that paid with the ultimate, to allow that to take place in a free land.
One day this blog will be read by many, but not so today. Watch this site for more Veteran news and more news about Real Estate and mortgages.

As promised the first real estate tip of 2017. The first tip involves "closing costs." Many buyers think that they are required to "pay" closing costs when they are in the process of buying a home and securing a mortgage.
That is a faulty assumption. Some lenders may impose a limit on what can be paid on behalf of the "borrower" and this depends on the particular loan product selected. When you really start to research the subject of closing costs you will find that almost anyone other than you, can pay a giant portion of your closing costs, if not all of them.
If you need more information on this subject just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. I have over 35 years of experience in the lending and real estate business.

I spent Christmas in 1968 in South Vietnam. There were many of us there at the time, a little over 500,000 as I remember. I was one of the fortunate ones, as I made it out alive and able to return to CONUS.
The initials stand for the Continental United States, or as my fellow veteran's referred to it at the time, "back in the world." This post is to wish every veteran out there, and from any conflict anywhere, a very Merry Christmas. I choose also this night, a few days before Christmas, to remember those not yet accounted for.

Post today is going to be about real estate and homes. The holiday season can be a really great time to buy a house. The competition of people looking to buy is less, and sellers are getting less traffic to their properties.
In addition to that, people are considering beginning the New Year with a fresh start, whether it be a new job, or moving to a different area. I make these observations after almost 40 years of work in the fields of real estate and mortgage loan originations.

It is late in December and I have great news for all my Vietnam friends and brothers out there. HR 6416 became law on December 16, 2016. I have to take my hat off to Congress on this one. It was introduced into the House on December 1st, passed there on the 6th, went to the Senate on the 7th where it passed on the 10th.
It then went to the President on the 14th and signed by the President on the 16th of December. Stay tuned as this law plays out. It could have great benefits for those veterans whose lives have been affected by toxins. Can you say "Agent Orange?"
I will be keeping up as the bill goes along. Stay tuned and I will attempt to keep you updated. Once again Merry Christmas to all.
